The Optimistic Cave (ENG)
It's really one of the "seven wonders" of Ukraine. The Optimistic Cave. The biggest gypsous subterranean in the world, taking its proud place in Guiness Book of Records. The total length of the cave is more than 250km, placed in the west, Ternopol Oblast. Look up a small village Korolivka in the map. The cave was discoverd by speleologists in 1966, being formed 14 million years ago according to the sсientists. The cave maze underlays 20m below the level.
The cave is available for visitors. Simple and nice routs were laid for tourists and inexperienced spelunkers. In the village there's a specialized baze where you can find properly equipments and the guide. The cave is full of amazing galleries with crystals, also there are underground lakes and organized camps for those braves who are about to stay under for several days.
The easiest way to get to Korolivka and the cave is by car or bus from Ternopol, the main region town. The nearest railway station is in Borshchiv town.
